What to discuss with the care team

  • Keep the treating clinician’s and device-support contacts available, including instructions for problems outside normal hours.
  • Report a loose dressing seal, repeated alarms, unusual machine sounds or a device that stops running.
  • Contact the treating clinician about new bleeding, fever or other signs of infection. Seek emergency help for severe or uncontrolled bleeding.
  • Be ready to describe the alarm, when the problem began and any change in the wound or drainage.
  • Follow the instructions provided for the specific device and care plan. This guide does not determine the appropriate settings.
