What to discuss with the care team

  • Pressure injuries are more likely when a person has difficulty moving, especially over areas such as the heels, hips and tailbone.
  • Skin changes may include persistent discoloration, unusual warmth, firmness, tenderness or an open area.
  • Ask the care team to explain the individual plan for mobility, pressure relief, skin checks and support surfaces.
  • Seek prompt medical advice for worsening pain, pus, fever or hot, swollen skin around the wound.
